Finca El Cisne was founded by Don Armando Castejón Fiallos, an important person in the development of Western Honduras. Since 1885, the lands of Finca El Cisne, originally known as Terra Managua, have belonged to the same family and have played an important part in the history of Copán. Because of this, El Cisne has one of the oldest coffee plantations in Western Honduras.
From its beginnings, Finca El Cisne has been dedicated to sustainable agriculture by producing Arabica shade grown coffee and cultivating the basic grains of Honduras: maize (corn) and beans. Over the years, it has diversified to include significant productions of Cardamom (an Indian spice) and breeding Brahman cattle and horses. Due to the richness and fertility of its lands, the Finca is also a botanical garden where avocados, marzipan, bananas, oranges, avocados, pineapples, guanábanas and other vegetables are grown.
The conservation of our environment is one of the main missions of the farm, which is why a variety of timber trees grow and are protected in our lands. The forests of the estate are also home to many birds including toucans, momotos, oropendolas and animals such as white-tailed deer, tepezcuintles (paca), cusucos (armadillos) and cotuzas (agouti).
Called “the best tour of my vacation in Honduras” by many of our visitors, visiting Finca El Cisne is an authentic and unique experience of a historic family farm.
